INVASIVE Japanese knotweed near Redditch’s railway station could prove problematic if buildings there are bulldozed and the unwanted earth used as topsoil somewhere else, a resident has warned. He said: ‘The presence of Japanese knotweed has led to the condemnation of houses and people being refused mortgages because of it… It needs specialist removal – if you leave even the smallest of roots it will start to spread again.’
