{"id":342,"date":"2013-06-05T07:38:36","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T06:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plrltd.co.uk\/?p=342"},"modified":"2013-06-05T08:06:17","modified_gmt":"2013-06-05T07:06:17","slug":"hikers-to-be-asked-to-help-monitor-invasive-weeds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plrltd.co.uk\/?p=342","title":{"rendered":"Hikers to be asked to help monitor invasive weeds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wanted: Hikers to help find invasive plants and to help get rid of them.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest\u00a0is working with other groups to train volunteers to monitor trails for Japanese knotweed (which could\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\">choke vegetation along creeks), oxeye daisy (which\u00a0could take over alpine meadows) and &#8216;English ivy&#8217; (which could\u00a0could cover forest canopies).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Classes will teach so-called Weed Watchers how to identify invasive species, record and collect data with GPS units, and control some weeds. The volunteers will choose which trails they want to &#8216;adopt&#8217; this summer.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Click here for full details - opens in new tab\/window\"
